Taking life at a genteel pace is the vibe for a canal cruise. Forget about fast paced walking and getting caught up in the hustle and bustle of other tourists, you and the girls will feel like queens as you slowly meander through the many waterways and navigate a few bridges along the way. A cruise gives a whole new perspective on the city you are visiting with time to soak up the local culture with a drink or two while you earmark places of interest along the way.
Aside from providing a relaxed viewing experience of your chosen destination, many of our canal boat tours come with onboard bars so you can enjoy a beverage or two along the way. You can hire your own private canal boat in Amsterdam too so hair can be let down without worrying about other customers! There are also some dining options available where delicious food is served for either lunch or dinner, giving you the opportunity to kill two birds with one stone - food and sightseeing rolled into one. Nighttime cruises add an exciting dimension, as you will see the city in all its twilight glory, the twinkling lights showing the way
Another bonus of booking a lunch or dinner cruise is that it will give your hen party the chance to bond and get to know each other in a comfortable setting while you peruse the sights and learn about the hottest points of interest are without lifting a finger (or foot)
This slower paced activity allows you to become a tourist wherever you are, hence why we mainly offer this activity in Europe, where people want to see the sights with a glass of prosecco in hand. We will occasionally offer special versions of these cruises, such as an afternoon tea, allowing you to add food into the mix.
The speeds tend to be slow, so you don't have to worry too much about feeling seasick or anything of that nature, let alone the fact that you're on a canal rather than at sea, so you shouldn't expect huge waves (weather permitting).
This activity works amazingly with hen weekends as it's generally in the afternoon, before the big evening activities, while it ticks off that tourist craving. The access to a bar on the boat is an added bonus. Some cruises will have music playing, we'll detail if it does, as the ones with and without music offer a vastly different experience.
You may even want to prep some hen party games for the cruise, whether that's Mr and Mrs or Never Have I Ever.
