We have more activities than you can shake a stick at, some of which will help you find your way around this wonderful city - the nightlife is unrivalled, Belfast is bursting with bars and clubs aplenty, you’ll be spoilt for choice on where to go, dust off those dancing shoes!
It’s worth saying that if you catch Ryanair at the right time, the flights here are ridiculously cheap and you will arrive in just one hour and 20 minutes from London. Getting from Belfast airport to the city centre is a breeze, you and the girls can save money on a taxi by catching the Airport Express bus which takes approximately 30-40 minutes. A taxi service is also available at the airport and will cost you an average of £38.
Once you’re there you will discover that Belfast is a compact, walkable city, meaning you will save money on cabs. However if you want to save on shoe leather, the bus service Translink is reliable and regular as clockwork, with Metro and Glider operating in the city and Uber is also available, plus a number of taxi apps and a great range of local taxi firms.
Set in the Titanic Quarter, where the famous Harland & Wolff Shipyard was that the Titanic was designed and built, this is a key piece of history for those that are fascinated both by the real story and the movie. The focus will very much be on the Titanic, but hundreds of ships were built here, such as the HMHS Britannic. The huge Samson & Goliath yellow cranes are still on site and a key image of the city, therefore if you're all visiting for the first time, it could be worth getting a pic near them.
The Titanic is now looked back with wonder, but for a long time it was an embarrassment for Belfast, a highlight of a disaster of a ship that originated in the area. In the museum, you'll get the chance to see how the ship was designed, see what life was like onboard and all the gory details of when it sunk.
See this as a chance to go on a tour, but learning about modern history, where you'll be taken to places like the Peace Walls and a number of murals with political motivations. They explain why Belfast is the way it is and many people state that it leaves them feeling more connected and understanding to why it's so different to other cities you'll find across the UK.
We can obviously help here, especially in big groups, but it's worth highlighting that you'll most likely need a booking if you're visiting on the weekend. Larger groups of 8+ will often struggle and most sites won't allow for big bookings, hence where we have agreements with a number of venues to guarantee you a table and potentially pre-paying for the food so you don't have to worry about the bill on the day.
It should go without saying that you could combine eating with drinking and book a bottomless brunch, always a popular activity and now commonly themed or with a show, making this a mix of dinner/lunch, drinks and some entertainment. If you fancy something a bit more classy, you could try an afternoon tea.
While most places you visit across the UK you can expect the shops to be shut, Belfast is surprisingly quiet on Sundays compared to other areas, with Sunday trading restrictions being respected and stores shutting their doors. Having said that, the bars and restaurants will remain open, while you can also enjoy a Sunday roast dinner or a brunch on the day without any problems.
We have been asked this by a number of customers, so we feel it's worth quickly explaining that the pound sterling is used in Northern Ireland, as it is used in England, Scotland and Wales. Many confuse this with Republic of Ireland, where the Euro is used as currency.
You may receive Northern Irish banknotes, which appear different to what you're used to seeing if you're from other areas of the UK, but these can be handed into any bank and accepted, in case you have issues using it when home. Nowadays, most places have contactless payment so currency isn't such a headache anymore.
It’s an Ulster Protestant celebration dating back to the 1700s, commemorating the victory of Protestant King William of Orange over Catholic King James II at the Battle of the Boyne in 1690. Protestant areas of the city erect Union flags, paint their street kerbs red, white and blue, and may look under siege as bonfires are burnt on the 11th night, this is to signal the forthcoming celebrations.
With approximately 157 days of rain per year, you should definitely pack a rain jacket and waterproof clothing, albeit it's mainly light showers during the summer time when most of our hen bookings are for. The weather has been known to change quickly, so it can be very useful packing an umbrella on you.
The city is renowned for its lively pub scene, with everything from traditional pubs to modern party bars. Expect lots of live music venues, peppered with original alehouses and nightclubs. Make sure you visit The Crown which is a gorgeous traditional venue steeped in history.
Cathedral Quarter is a famous spot to visit and ideal for hen parties in Belfast, with plenty of independent bars, pubs and restaurants. You can easily burn away an evening or two here, while you also have a number of live music venues for the night time. Expect beautiful cobbled streets and street art along the wall.
There are booths inside the pub where ladies used to sit/hide in the olden days, as drinking wasn’t deemed ladylike. Out of sight, out of mind was the ethos and a button was installed inside each booth that the women would press, this would release a flag and notify the bar staff they needed another beer! The Dirty Onion is Belfast’s oldest building and here you will find live music and great food too.
If it’s a lively younger crowd you seek, then we recommend visiting Filthy McNastys for cheaper drinks and live music and The Points which gets really busy from 10pm with live music and everyone on their feet dancing. If it’s dancing you seek, then Club Lux on Dunbar Street is just the ticket, doors close at 2am.
Ollies is another late night venue and probably one of the hottest spots in the city, playing Disco, House, Hip Hop and R&B every Saturday night until 3am!
You and the girls are guaranteed a warm welcome in this friendly party city. Being compact Belfast is easy to walk around and our activities are second to none and will help you navigate your surroundings ready for those big nights out! Expect a combo of live music and vibrant nightclubs, everyone loves to party here!
There’s everything from beer bikes, cocktail making, nightclub entry and drinks, bubble football and afternoon tea. Not forgetting the Titanic museum where you can live out your best Kate and Leo fantasies!
We recommend arriving on Friday and leaving Sunday, this way you can make the most of the wild nightlife and busy weekend. Midweek is also great because there’s still lots of live music and fun to be had, but obviously it’s less busy.
The average cost of a pint is £6.20, similar to other major cities in the UK, but look out for drinks deals as there are plenty to be found.
