Banana Boat Ride hen weekends: What to expect

About Banana Boat Ride

Lying on the beach topping up your tan is all well and good, but a ride on a banana boat is just the thing to energise the group and guarantee non-stop laughter. Plus it’s a battle of strength and skill to see who can cling to the banana for the longest time while everyone else gets thrown unceremoniously into the sea! Life jackets are provided, because as always your safety is paramount.

What to expect

For those of you who don’t know, this experience involves clinging on for dear life to a giant inflatable banana that is pulled at high velocity by a speedboat! Sounds fun right? There are handles so you can hold on for as long as possible and you will all be wearing life jackets. Expect to bounce on the waves and turn a few corners as your driver's goal is to ensure you all fall off into the sea!

The trip lasts approximately 20 minutes and the boats can hold up to 10 people. Benidorm is one of the best destinations to experience a banana boat in all its glory. Obviously bigger groups can expect two separate rides. Hen Party Deals loves this activity as it is guaranteed to put a big smile on everyone’s faces while ensuring you all cool off. We recommend booking lunch at a nearby location so you can all refuel with some delicious food and drinks afterwards.

What Happens?

  • You'll have A LOT of fun
  • Safety brief and life jackets
  • Bright yellow inflatable banana to ride
  • Lots of social media content worthy moments
  • The laughter when someone falls off!
  • A high-energy start to the day

How Wet Will We Get?

Ok, you're going to get pretty wet, but it really depends if you fall on. You'll have to walk into the water to get onto the banana boat, about up to knee or waist height, depending on how far they take it out before you mount the giant banana (I know, so many puns going through my mind). But after this, the main wetting is from being splashed by the waves. One great tip a customer once gave back was to wear goggles, as the salty water does go in the eyes, but if you have swimming goggles on then you can keep your eyes open the whole time, genius we thought! Of course, if you fall off the banana boat, you'll be wearing a life jacket and they'll wait for you to get back on, but you'll inevitably get pretty wet.

What Should We Bring?

While every venue will have slightly different rules (that we'll list and you can speak to our event planners if you have any questions), you don't want to bring much. You want to leave your bags and phone behind, too many people bring their phone onto the banana boat to get a good picture just to drop it in the sea. Of course, you can get those ingenius water-resistant cases for phones that are inflatable meaning they'd bob up and down if you dropped it, but we can't say from experience whether they truly work. Most venues will have a safe box to store your valuables.

Some people also strap cameras and GoPro's to their heads, this tends to have a strap that you can make quite tight, again there is nothing wrong with this but do it at your own risk as there is always a chance it will fall off. If anyone in the group doesn't fancy having a go, such as an older relative, they could always become chief photographer, just get them to do a mix of zoomed in and zoomed out for the best combo of shots, as well as a few hilarious videos (extra credit if they catch someone slipping into the water).

Does This Work For Big Groups?

Yes, absolutely. Of course, the one consideration is how many people can go on at once and whether they have multiple banana boats or whether the group will have to split into two and take turns, but that can be discussed with the party planners. This activity is best with big groups as you can all laugh in hysterics as you splash along and all have a fun story to look back on. The collectivenes of this experience is what makes it so amazing, it just wouldn't be the same as one or two people.
