The date of the hen weekend is set, exciting times lie ahead! There’s so much to organise and deciding on a theme is an integral part for setting the tone of your hen party. Long gone are the days of L plates, bride veils and inflatable appendages, there are now so many PG hen party themes to choose from.
We have broken down the process of deciding for you and found some of our favourite trending themes to give you some inspiration. Read on to find out more…
This event centres around one very important person, the bride-to-be! As her best friend you know her better than anyone. Does she love fancy dress or shy away from making a spectacle of herself? Think about her passions, music tastes and hobbies as this can help you decide on a theme she will love. We recommend leaving the theme as a surprise for the first day of the hen celebrations!
Where are you hosting the hen weekend? Think about the climate (no one wants to freeze in tiny outfits) and the general vibe of the venue or destination. If you are having a weekend abroad such as an Albufeira hen do, consider the culture of the place you are descending upon as this can impact what kind of outfits you decide on.
Now for the fun part, what to wear!
Keep it simple with matching t-shirts. You can have each girl’s role in the wedding printed on the back and an image of the bride-to-be on the front. You can make the bride’s t-shirt unique with an image of the groom on the front a different colour from the rest.
Channel your inner Britney circa 2000s and dress up as air hostesses! You will certainly draw attention for all of the right reasons if you choose this as your theme. Emergency exits won’t be required while you and the girls paint the town red
A certain famous performer made cowgirl cool again, and the past couple of years have seen a resurgence in the purchase of cowboy boots and hats - this is a great hen party theme and can be inexpensive as it is accessory based and all you need to do is throw on a denim skirt or jeans! Yeeehawww...
As the song says, life in plastic, it’s fantastic and you and the girls will certainly have a fantastic time dressed up as Barbie! You could add a twist and all dress as different Barbies, we heart ‘weird’ Barbie…
Dressing up in 80s/90’s/00’s style is always a blast and there are so many options to choose from. Dressing as musical icons from those eras gives a huge variety of options and would suit the imagination of any age group. If you do, we have 80's dance classes that we can arrange for you.
Don shiny leotards, leg warmers, sweat bands and manic smiles and you can all be Sue from The Substance, this is an instantly recognisable trend and a super fun way to dress for your hen party.
You are the arresting officers and your bride-to-be is the convict, this is a fun and sexy theme that is guaranteed to make people smile as you party the night away, it’s also a good way to differentiate the bride and make her stand out.
Elastagirl, Super Girl, Cat Woman, Wonder Woman and Bat Girl are just a few we can think of - this is a hilarious theme and you’re sure to get a few free shots bought for you if you go out dressed like this!
This is one consideration people often forget to have before arranging the costumes. Some evening activities might be strict with costumes, such as a nightclub or a show, therefore it can be easier to wear the costume during the day depending on what you've booked.
Equally in reverse, if you're booking an afternoon tea, most of the venues won't allow fancy dress, so if you're dressed up, just look at the activities and plan it around where is best to wear them and for how long.
