What to expect
This is an ideal activity for a new city you've not been to before, or where you've been but never had the chance to take on this daring activity, as you tick off the tourist aspect in a whole new way. Forget museums and landmarks, you're about to see the views from the sky at lightning pace, for the ultimate action bride!
What Happens When I Arrive?
You'll need to get to the venue around 10 minutes before your allotted time and then let a staff member know your group have arrived. They will then gather you all round and handle a safety run-through. I know it's boring, but it always needs to happen with these activities.
After this, you'll each get a turn on the zip wire, being strapped into the harness and hooked up by the instructor, who will thoroughly check your all connected. After that, you take the leap and fly through the air, taking in all the amazing sights. We'd strongly recommend you get someone to take some photos while you go, maybe a member of the group that is a little anxious about heights and is staying on the ground.
Can We Go In Pairs?
It all depends on which location you pick, but it is incredibly common for zipwires to run side by side with two wires, so you should be able to go down in pairs right next to each other. You won't be attached tandem style, but you will be an arm reach away from each other, while it will be nice being alongside each other laughing together rather than being strapped to the back of each other.
When Can A Zip Wire Be Booked For?
It depends on the opening times, most start around 10am, while some may be from midday. They might stay open till around 7pm, but you really want to go in the daytime so you have a perfect view of the scenery. Some people opt to go at sunset, but this can be hard to time and you don't want it to turn dark, therefore we'd generally recommend doing this as a daytime activity when it's nice and warm as well.
As it tends to be a shorter activity, the zip ride itself might only last 30 seconds but you still want to give yourself a total of 30 minutes, this means you can look at other activities nearby which could be booked in unison. What Should I Wear?
This isn't a heavily physical activity, you're not running along an assault course or getting muddy, therefore you can generally get away with most clothing, but you should try to ensure everything is comortably on, for example you don't want to wear flip flops and see them slip off half way along. You also might not want any loose garments like a scarf. If some members of the group are staying at the bottom, it could be worth them looking after people's jewellery or loose garments. Many of these venues will have a bar or a cafe at the base, ideal for someone to hold a table and relax while others go on the ride.
