Got your sights set on the hen party being a big hit? Well clay pigeon shooting is a great fun activity for all the girls. Even if your usual idea of fun doesn’t have much to do with shooting guns, this is a chance to try something different and the chance to get some bragging rights over the girls by being the queen sharpshooter!
After escaping the city and getting into the great outdoors you and your girls will set loose on a shooting adventure. Your day session starts off with a full safety briefing from a fully qualified instructor, this doesn’t just keep your day on target, it’s also a great chance to build your confidence with these weapons. After some one-to-one tuition you’ll be demolishing targets like an action movie star.
Especially if you’re a group of competitive girls, clay pigeon shooting is a fantastic way to spend your time on your hen. We recommend setting up some forfeits for whoever comes bottom of the leader board. Just make sure your aim’s on point or you’ll be the one getting the drinks in – or worse!
No, not at all. In fact, our team went up for clay pigeon shooting and tried it together, none of us had given it a go beforehand and we all loved it, can't say we hit too many though. This is an activity where you don't expect anyone to really have done it before, therefore it's a life experience to tick off, unless someone in the group had quite a wealthy background and does this every summer.
There will be an expert on-hand to teach you how to stand, how to hold the shotgun properly and where to position it. In fact, our team were relieved to see the guide even handled loading it, making the whole experience very easy and fun.
You will be provided with the clay targets, cartridges and obviously the shotgun. Clothing isn't provided, you can wear what you like, but why not dig out some true country clothing to really embrace the experience. You will also be offered safety glasses and hearing protection.
The rules are generally quite relaxed, you can wear your everyday clothing, but think 'outside activity', meaning it might be a bit muddy, you want sturdy footwear and potentially waterproofs in case the rain comes out, but you can keep an eye on the weather forecast beforehand. However you dress, just think about flexibility in the shoulders and arms, so you can easily shoot without feeling constrained.
We're not expecting you to become an absolute master shooter on the hen party, but you can pick up the basics quite quickly and get used to firing. Whether you hit the target is a different matter altogether.
Think of it like you're aiming in front of a moving target rather than a stationary target, which adds a level of complexity, but also makes it even more rewarding when you do hit it. If the instructor is good, they can normally work on the people who are struggling a bit more and can normally get them confident and hitting targets by the end of the session.
It depends where you've booked your hen weekend, but most of the venues are out in the countryside, therefore you may have to book a few taxis or Uber's to get to the location. These are worth reserving in advance so you're not left trying to find one on the day, but you can speak to our team and we should be able to arrange this for you.
Booking a weekend for your best friend can feel like a colossal task. Where to go? What to do? Who’s in? How to pay for it all?
Well, relax! We’re the original hen do experts, and we’ve got all the answers. We’ve mastered the art of hen dos over the years, and now it’s your turn to join the club.
