Booking a place to stay as well as your hen activities not only saves you money, but also the hassle and worry about quality. Location Matters
Have you seen 'Location Location Location'? Well they have a good point, as location is critical when it comes to picking your hen accommodation in London. 'Central' is such a loose term, as they can describe areas a long way apart from each other. Find out where you plan on going during the day and what activities you want to do and that should dictate somewhat where you want to be based. For example, is the bride quite keen on visiting Camden? Maybe she really likes the idea of a bottomless brunch in Shoreditch. Wherever she wants to go or whatever she wants to do will drastically change your ideal hotel choice. You just want to make sure you're close to a train station, that's absolutely key.
If most of your activities are central, then despite a central hotel being more expensive, you might save money on train fares and taxis by opting for somewhere close to everything.
Will They Accept Groups
This is where we can step in because the majority of accommodation in London won't accept hen parties, we can promise you this, as we have to arrange guarantees with the locations we offer. Even then, if you stay at an apartment, you can't just have a wild houseparty and you can't be playing music in your hotel room at 3am. There are some rules around quiet hours, while if you want to decorate the accommodation then it's worth checking beforehand.
Also, if you plan on arranging fancy dress for the bride-to-be, or for the whole group, then try to avoid wearing this in communal areas of the accommodation, to avoid upsetting other people staying.
Room Layout
Many people assume they'll be having their own room, not realising most hen parties involve a bunk bed style setup, or at the very least shared rooms. You may have a double bed and a single bed in a room, meaning two or three people sharing a room. Each venue will vary, while we will do our best to explain what you get and provide imagery so you know what you're booking.
Is Breakfast Included
We try to opt for venues that will provide breakfast, but we can't secure this everywhere, especially with hostels at a lower cost. The reality is we generally recommend getting breakfast included, as this stops you from gathering everyone in the morning and working out where to go, it's a simple solution of just heading down once you're ready to eat. Of course, some people will oversleep and miss it, but that's their choice and we're pretty sure they wouldn't fancy eating if they're in need of some shut-eye. Having breakfast included also stops you from spending extra money on a cafe in the morning.
Facilities
We try to list under each hotel what facility you can expect, but if you can't find details, please feel free to reach out. This can include a 24-hour reception (key if people are arriving at different times or might lose their card key), luggage storage (great so you can head around the city on your last day before heading off), lifts and accessibility facilities, air conditioning (increasingly being offered now in the UK), breakfast, a hotel bar, hairdryer, irons, charging points and even whether you can book a late check-out.
London Transport
Driving in central London is not for the faint hearted. The one way systems and restrictions are confusing to even the most seasoned of drivers. We highly recommend getting the train, there are 330 train stations with routes to all parts of the UK. Once you arrive, you’ll find 272 Underground stations, from 5am until midnight taking you to every nook and cranny in the city.
You can use your contactless bank card, mobile phone or smartwatch to pay for the Tube nowadays, as well as most buses, the DLR, trams, London Overground and the Elizabeth line. There is also daily capping, meaning if you do plan on taking several journeys, you'll stop being charged beyond a certain point. Just as a reminder, it's a single bank card per person, you can't have someone pay for the entire group or multiple people, if you'd like to do that then you might want to get a paper ticket at the machine. While you only need to tap in on the bus, you have to tap in and tap out on the trains, so if you leave at a platform with open barriers, just remember to tap otherwise a big charge will be added to your card.
The tube never used to run at night, but fortunately that has been changing and you can use the Night Tube on the weekends, such as on the Jubilee, Northern or Piccadilly line. There are also night buses, but we would generally recommend avoiding sitting at the back of the top floor of a double decker, as that's where more bad situations tend to occur, so to be safe we recommend staying downstairs or at least near the front.
Remember that the tube can be incredibly busy during rush hour, we're really not exaggerating when we say this, so try to time your travel to avoid this both in the morning and late afternoon. You should also keep an eye on your items and watch out for pickpockets, especially through Central London. While you're in areas like Leicester Square, you may find that where you want to go on the train is actually walkable, so double check Google Maps before taking the train and seeing what works best.
If you need a cab, there’s Uber and the famous London black cabs whose drivers have intimate knowledge of all the sneaky back roads and shortcuts. The black cabs are quite expensive, while if there are quite a few of you then you might need multiple cabs. Despite the days we live in with Maps available on our phone, it's so impressive to see the black cab drivers know virtually every street in London and be able to easily navigate there. They can also use certain bus lanes to dodge the busy traffic. In contrast, taking an Uber is great as you can see the price before booking and work out whether it's worth it within your group. You may face surge pricing during peak periods, while some drivers might cancel, especially if you've not got the perfect reputation on the app.
If you need to fly, there are quite a few airports, including Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, London City and Southend, all with excellent train links into London.

Parking in London
As we mentioned, driving in London is not for the faint hearted and if possible, we would recommend finding alternative solutions. The JustPark app is a godsend and enables you to book and pay for spaces in advance. Be prepared to leave your car in a long stay car park as it most likely won’t be needed during your weekend.
The Congestion Charge catches quite a few people out. If you're driving through a charging zone and during the operating times, you will have to pay a fee, charged per vehicle per day. You therefore might want to check if the hotel or hostel is inside this zone, or whether the car park you opt for is, plus whether your route goes through a zone.
OK, so we've covered the Congestion Charge, but then you also have ULEZ, which operates 24 hours a day and is based on your vehicle's emission standards, with a daily charge for your vehicle. Just having a newer car doesn't actually mean you're compliant, so it's worth researching.
If your hotel is in Central London, then the chance of hotel parking is unfortunately almost non-existent. The vast majority simply can't offer this facility as the space is so expensive. You may however be able to get a discounted rate at a local car park via the hotel.

Hotels
The majority of our hen groups stay in a hen friendly hotel. Providing you opt for one that includes breakfast (most of the ones we list do) then you can head down in the morning together and catch up over coffee and an English breakfast. This is ideal as you don't have to worry about gathering everyone together to head somewhere in the morning, people can wake up on their own schedule and head to breakfast when they're ready, providing they don't miss the last calls for brekkie.
A hotel is also ideal for having a reception, so if anyone comes back a bit tipsy or can't find their key, then there are staff ready to help.
Apartments
Houses and apartments have grown in popularity over the past decade, as this offers somewhere you can all get ready together. It also allows for group activities, such as a Butler in the Buff to serve you all drinks, or a private chef visiting your apartment to cook for everyone. Being self-catering, this does mean someone might volunteer to cook for the group, whether that's breakfast the next morning or dinner before you head out.
An apartment tends to work out cheaper per person than other options, depending on how central you want to be and how lavish the apartment is, but it should be remembered that you might need several apartments, especially if you're in a big group, while you also might have bunk beds and multiple beds per room, which won't suit everyone.
Hostels
The hostels in London tend to provide dorm rooms, while we can ensure these are private, meaning just your group and no others wandering in during the night, something we see as pivotal for your safety. The size of the dorms will vary, some may just be 4 people, while you can find others which can hold your entire group (even if that's 16 people). You won't get any of the luxuries of a hotel or an apartment, meaning no fridge or nice view, but it's somewhere to crash for the night at a low cost, you have hot water with a working shower and all the basics.
